Little Explorers Montessori Plus (now operating as Explorers Schools Ghana, formerly LEMP) is a bilingual (English-French) educational facility based on the Montessori Plus system. The school opened its doors in 2007 when 2 passionate Montessorians, Karine McVeigh and Kamilla Kirpalani, dared to dream to create the 1st true accredited Montessori school in West Africa. What started in the back yard of a house with only 12 students soon grew to become one of Ghana's leading early years and primary schools. In 2009, Little Explorers gained its UK Accreditation from the Montessori Evaluation and Accreditation Board (MEAB), for which it acquired a Grade 1. The school renewed its accreditation for the 3rd time in 2017. In 2019, it received validation from IQAA in South Africa - Little Explorers is the first international school to go through this process. Little Explorers is currently home to 188 pupils from 36 different countries, aging from 14 months to 6½ years old. We strive to facilitate the physical, intellectual, linguistic, emotional and social development of pupils to their full potential in the most stimulating and creative way, in an environment that promotes joy, respect and peace. In each of our classrooms there are two teachers - one always speaks French, and one always speaks English. This time-tested bilingual formula is unique, and creates an ideal dual language environment for learning. Many of our international children become comfortable communicating in a third language. The Montessori Plus system combines Montessori with other more formal systems of education, with the 'Plus' referring to its additional school-readiness component. The curriculum is divided into 6 different areas of learning: sensorial, practical life, language and literacy, mathematics, cultural subjects and creative subjects. We are dedicated to nurturing young minds and laying a robust foundation for their educational odyssey.
